Bass fishing can be very exciting, rewarding and very costly. Most, big time, bass fishermen spend thousands of dollars trying to catch that, once in a lifetime trophy bass. Buying the right fishing gear and tackle is a must have to most of them.

The rod and reel is at the top of their list. The rod must be made of the finest graphite with the precision of touch, allowing the holder to feel the slightest bump. They spend hundreds of dollars, on the finest bait casters available, or the ones that the Top Anglers claims to use.

Now that the decision has been made, as to which rod and reels to use, let’s move on to the baits. What type of baits should you buy? If you are really a Top Angler, want to be, you will buy what the Anglers use, and every great new, never heard of before performance, bait you see on TV. Now that you have all type of baits, you need four or five rods and reels to eliminate wasting time switching baits.

Now you need a good flat bottom boat with a swivel seat and a 10 horse Mercury outboard motor and a trolling motor. No? The Top Anglers doesn’t use a flat bottom boat, so you need to get that expensive fiberglass bass boat with that big engine, so it can get you to the best spot, ahead of anyone else. Now all you need is the all the special accessories, for the boat. Most big bass boats, comes with a hands free trolling motor and a live well, but if not, these are must have items. To save you the time and effort it takes to locate the fish, you will need a, top of the line, fish locator.

After spending thousands of dollars, already, you have not even been close to a lake or river, but at least you have the fishing gear you need to become the Angler, that you dreamed of becoming!

Now no one can ever call you names, like a perch jerker or minnow drownder, again. Now you are a legitimate Bass Fisherman and you have all the equipment to prove it, however, no one has taught you how to use all these different baits you have nor even showed you how to use the bait caster reels.

The bait caster reels are great and easy to use, however, for a beginner, it can be a total nightmare. If you get a backlash (bird nest) it can take, what seem like forever, to untangle. It is all about settings and timing, and take lot of practice.

Learning how to use the different baits is simple. Buy videos to watch or pick up every magazine you can find on bass fishing and do a lot of reading. Now that you have instructions on how to use all your fishing gear, it is time to head to your favorite fishing place and start practicing what you have learned. The more you practice, the better you will become, and who knows, someday you might be up there with Anglers like Bill Dance and the boys!

Author’s Box:
Jim Atkinson here. I love bass fishing, but not like most fishermen. I’m not comfortable in a big bass boat, with all the special accessories. I am a spinner bait and plastic worm sort of guy. I enjoy walking the creek banks and the banks of a small pond or lake. My fishing gear
, consist of, 3 spinners bait, graphite rod, bait caster reel and a couple of plastic worms. My tackle box is a zip-lock or paper bag. When I need to purchase more, I always order them from The Arkansas Sportsman website. There I always know that I will get the lowest-prices and the best- quality on whatever I buy, because they guarantee it!

May you reach all your bass fishing goals!
